PLASTER SOLUTION FOR:

4.5 mm HARDIBACKER FIBRE-CEMENT BOARD

LITECLAD is a multi-coat plastering system designed specifically for use on 4.5mm fibre-cement board fixed to timber or steel framing. It is a 4 coat plaster solution, consisting of a 10 – 12 mm base coat of light-weight render, followed by a full fiberglass meshcoat, a skimcoat, and a textured finishing coat, giving a total plaster application of 16 – 18mm.

The main plaster component of LITECLAD is  MPT LITECOAT RENDER which provides a tough, durable and crack-resistant basecoat when used in conjunction with fiberglass reinforcing mesh.

BUILDING REGULATIONS

When installed and maintained in accordance with the instructions given in the Mineral Plaster Technologies Ltd ( MPT ) Technical Manual, LITECLAD will meet the provisions of the New Zealand Building Code as required by: Clause B1 Structure: B2 Durability: E2 External Moisture and F2 Hazardous Building Products.

GENERAL

LITECLAD comprises breathable mineral plasters and when installed on Hardibacker Board, is classed as a light-weight cladding.   Installation of the board must be carried out according to the technical instructions of James Hardie Building Products Ltd.

Typical application is on both residential and commercial construction.

LITECLAD can be applied manually or by plaster pump.

FINISH COATS:

  • All MPT plaster finishes are available standard for painting. To compliment the breathing activity of its plaster coats, MPT recommends the use of vapour permeable 100% acrylic-based exterior house paints which are used over LITECLAD plaster to give the desired finish colour to the exterior walls and to make the system weathertight. Minimum light reflectance is 40 %.
  • ADOBECOAT is a fine sponge finish and is ideally suited where an adobe or undulating finish is required. It can be easily worked to any desired effect, from bold rustic and undulating textures, to smooth sponge finishes.
  • FLOATCOAT has been specifically formulated for finishing by plastic trowel, or sponging with water. It can also be sprayed through a hopper gun to achieve a fine to medium textured finish.
  • SPONGECOAT is a medium sponge finish which will maintain texture beneath several layers of paint.
  • SCRATCHCOAT MEDIUM is a medium texture coat (drag or random scratch), and during setting the applied areas are worked with a polystyrene or hard plastic float.
  • SCRATCHCOAT COARSE is a coarse texture coat (drag or random scratch) and during setting the applied areas are worked with a polystyrene or hard plastic float.
  • SPRAY TEXTURES. All the above finish coats can be sprayed through a hopper gun or similar to produce varying grades of textures from fine to very coarse. Variations are produced by sand particle size, nozzle diameter and varying air volume.
